Rhythm People Recordings — Dublin Launch Party

April 9, 2026 Off By Editor

Dublin’s dancefloor is about to get dragged somewhere deeper.

Rhythm People Recordings steps out for the first time with a proper no-frills launch session at Fidelity Studio, Smithfield — April 18th. No gimmicks, no filler—just rhythm, pressure, and movement.

This isn’t your polished club night. It’s raw Afro-Latin energy, live percussion, and heavyweight grooves pushed through the Hatchett Sound system the way it’s meant to be heard—warm, physical, and hitting you right in the chest.

At the controls: Dublin Native Bazza Ranks aka Barrio B (Based in London) and Lex Woo (Dublin), two heads who’ve been locking into the same frequency for years across festivals and underground sessions. Now they step forward with their own imprint—Rhythm People—built for dancers who know.

They’re joined by MC Kwasi (Mr. Scruff) on the mic, bringing that unmistakable presence, alongside Basil Isaac (Black2Basic) delivering live percussion that cuts straight through the system.

This is rhythm in motion. No standing still.

ORIGINS

After years of crossing paths behind the decks, Lex Woo and Bazza Ranks link up properly to build something of their own.

Rhythm People Recordings is rooted in contemporary electronic music with Afro-Latin DNA—built for the dancefloor, but with soul intact. Dublin to London and outward, this is just the starting point. Expect label nights, new releases, and a sound that travels.

“Dancefloor tracks by Rhythm People—tunes to move and groove you.” — Lex Woo

DEBUT RELEASE — RPR001

The launch lands alongside the label’s first drop from rising producer Barrio B.

“Boomah” already has momentum behind it,

following early support from names like Laurent Garnier, Jamie Jones, Colleen Murphy, Kiko Navarro, Fish Go a Deep and Deb Grant on BBC Radio 6”

The track flips a vocal from the 1970s African funk cut “Kourougninda Wendé” into something built for now—Afro horns, rolling bass, tight percussion—equal parts heritage and forward motion.

No nostalgia trip. Just evolution.
