Review: Peri GLOWKiD

The first GLOWKiD’s show for 2026 came out in full-throttle rave mode, celebrating 35 years of Altern 8 and centered around one of UK Rave true architects: Mark Archer.

The show opens with a GLOWKiD warm-up mix stacked exclusively with Altern 8 / Mark Archer material and remixes, including: “Move My Body”, “Shades of Rhythm – Homicide (Altern 8 Remix)”, “Give It To Baby (Kin Travesty Remix)”, “A D8 with Plezure”, “Frequency (original 91 version)”, “Hypnotic St-8”, “Shadow Child & Mark Archer – I Know U”, “Cogzy”, “Unique 3 – The Theme (Altern 8 Remix)” and “We Jack The House.”

From 34:50, Mark Archer takes control with an exclusive guest mix, digging deep into Hardcore Rave slammers that defined a movement and still level dancefloors today. The mix is followed by an in-depth interview (from 1:34:17), recorded last month between shows in Greece, where Mark reflects on the rise of a new generation of ravers and producers, his two Boiler Room appearances, last year’s historic B2B with Leeroy Thornhill, and the 35 Years Tour, which tore through dancefloors across Europe, Brazil and beyond.

Central to the conversation is “Frequency”, a track that’s quietly become one of rave culture’s most enduring signals. Originally written in Mark’s bedroom in 1991 “just to fill out the PA”, the tune’s legacy has only grown louder. As Mark recall:

“But seeing it now… you’re at Glastonbury and Charli XCX is on stage and it’s like ‘that’s my riff’ and it’s thousands of people there. It’s been mindblowing.”

Released late 2025, the new “Frequency” remixes EP is a must-to-have to your collection. Mark Archer teams up with Shadow Child for the M.A.S.C. version – a muscular, club-ready rework that drives the original frenzy into tougher house territory. Tenerife’s Oldskool Hardcore prince, DJ Jonay delivers an old-school breakbeat-led take rooted, while Aries pushes the track into full-throttle jungle at festival intensity. Kin completes the set with a savage, amen-heavy version.

All in all, it’s continuity and it goes strictly for the Altern 8 massive. Past, present and future. All in the right frequency.
